As we pulled in the entrance of WindRiver Lakefront and Golf community, we knew Nikki and Blake’s day would be beautiful. With the rolling hills of the golf course and Tellico Lake as a backdrop, WindRiver is a beautiful community, and the details of Nikki and Blake’s wedding day just added to the beauty that was all around.
From the moment we walked in to begin filming their day, we began to learn more about Nikki and Blake’s story and how long awaited this day truly was. This fun couple started dating when they were in EIGHTH GRADE! Incredible. As you can imagine, with a marriage that long in the making, everyone involved had been anticipating this day for quite some time. The wedding party and all of Nikki and Blake’s friends and family used the hashtag #AboutDangTime when documenting the day. Excitement was in the air because the day had finally arrived!
There’s a silly superstition that says it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day, but any bride we’ve ever known has hoped and prayed that it would not rain on her wedding day. Nikki was no different--of course, as a bride, you want beautiful weather on the day that you’ve dreamed about forever. And the couple got just that. After a rainy morning, the clouds disappeared and the sun shined brightly for all of their outdoor photos and their ceremony.
With her “My Humans Are Getting Married” sign around her neck, Nikki and Blake’s sweet dog, Disney, walked down the aisle just before Nikki’s mother and grandmother walked her down the aisle. The memory of Nikki’s grandfather was with them as well as she walked down the aisle to marry the man of her dreams. She had a piece of one of her grandfather’s shirts sewn into the inside of her dress so he would be a part of their day as well. When Nikki and Blake were presented as husband and wife for the first time, their friends and family erupted with cheers of happiness for the newly married couple.
Earlier in the day, Nikki told us to expect a party that night at their reception, and a party it was! Nikki and Blake and all of their friends and family danced the night away under a giant tent. As the rain began to fall again, no one even thought about slowing down. The rain fell on the roof of the tent as the couple and all the people they love most danced and celebrated two becoming one. The night ended perfectly with a sparkler exit as Nikki and Blake left to begin their married life together (finally!).
Nikki and Blake, thank you for letting us be a part of your day. It was beautiful and fun and we hope your life together is exactly that! It was a joy to capture all the special moments of August 18th! We hope you enjoy your honeymoon in the Cayman Islands!!!
