It was the perfect November day to travel to Abington, Virginia for the wedding of Elizabeth and Clay. Neither family of the bride or groom currently lives in Abington, so the people they love most traveled to the beautiful town for their big day. Abington was Elizabeth’s favorite place that her family lived when she was younger, with lots of moving around for her dad’s job. We think the mountain backdrop and the small, historic town feel made for the perfect destination for their sweet nuptials.

From the moment we knew that Elizabeth and Clay met and fell in love at Carson-Newman University, we were excited to get to be a part of their day. Our love story began on the same college campus, so we felt like we had a fun connection to the couple before we even met them. The day was filled with fun chatter about our favorite professors and friends and spots on campus. Clay graduated from Carson-Newman last spring while Elizabeth is finishing up her degree this year. Their wedding party was full of siblings, friends from college and friends from high school. Elizabeth and Clay are forging the way amongst their friend group from college, as they are the first couple to embark on the wonderful journey of marriage.

Elizabeth and Clay’s wedding ceremony took place outside of The Barns at Chip Ridge with a gazebo and the mountains as a backdrop. Clay’s dad had the honor of officiating the marriage of his son and new daughter-in-law. Everything about their ceremony and reception portrayed a simple elegance that I think represented Elizabeth so well. Her dress created the most beautiful silhouette and her bouquet gave the perfect, fun pop of color to the day. The cozy fireplace and elegant place settings created a warm, welcoming environment inside the barn for their reception. The couple’s family and friends all gathered in one place to celebrate their union was a sweet picture of the support I’m sure they will continue to have as they enter into this new season of life together. Elizabeth and Clay danced into the night with their family and friends, taking a few breaks for some delicious wedding cake and heartfelt toasts from their siblings. At the end of the night, their loved ones sent them off with a sparkler exit, wishing them well as husband and wife.
